그래미 2관왕 럭키 데이, 정규 5집 ‘ALOUD!’ 발매… R&B의 새로운 가능성
그래미 어워드 2관왕에 빛나는 R&B 아티스트 럭키 데이(Lucky Daye)가 지난 16일 정규 5집 ‘ALOUD!’를 발매했다.
총 15개 트랙으로 구성된 이번 앨범은 타인의 시선과 기존의 틀에서 벗어나 자신만의 방식으로 살아가는 자유를 주제로 한다. 전작 ‘Algorithm’에서 선보인 R&B, 록, 얼터너티브 장르의 실험적인 조합을 이어가면서도 한층 가볍고 여유로운 사운드로 음악적 변화를 담아냈다.
오랜 협업 파트너인 프로듀서 디마일(D’Mile)이 제작에 참여했으며, 리온 토마스(Leon Thomas), 푸샤 티(Pusha T), 머니 롱(Muni Long), 아킴 알리(Akeem Ali), 더 패러독스(The Paradox) 등 다양한 아티스트들이 피처링으로 힘을 보탰다.
타이틀곡 ‘Mouf Say’는 푸샤 티와 함께한 재즈 기반의 R&B 트랙으로, 말과 행동 사이에서 드러나는 관계의 미묘한 긴장감을 표현했다. 앞서 공개된 ‘Nowhere Fast’는 리한나(Rihanna)의 ‘Birthday Cake’를 샘플링한 곡으로 미국 R&B 라디오 차트 톱 20에 진입했으며, 리온 토마스와 협업한 ‘Fly U Out’은 빌보드 R&B 차트 19위를 기록했다.
럭키 데이는 솔로 데뷔 이전 니요(Ne-Yo), 보이즈 투 멘(Boyz II Men) 등 유명 아티스트들의 백그라운드 보컬과 작곡가로 활동하며 음악적 기반을 다졌다. 2018년 솔로 아티스트로 데뷔한 이후 비욘세(Beyoncé)의 ‘ALIEN SUPERSTAR’ 공동 작사에 참여했으며, 브루노 마스(Bruno Mars)가 프로듀싱한 ‘That’s You’를 발표하는 등 활동 영역을 넓혀왔다.
2022년 ‘Table For Two’로 그래미 어워드 최우수 프로그레시브 R&B 앨범상을 수상한 데 이어, 2025년에는 ‘That’s You’로 최우수 트래디셔널 R&B 퍼포먼스상을 거머쥐었다. 두 차례의 그래미 수상으로 음악적 역량을 인정받은 럭키 데이는 이번 신보를 통해 자신만의 R&B 사운드를 더욱 확장하고 있다.

Two-Time Grammy Winner Lucky Daye Releases New Album ‘ALOUD!’, Expanding His R&B Sound
Two-time Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Lucky Daye released his new album, ‘ALOUD!’, on October 16.
Featuring 15 tracks, the album explores the freedom of living authentically, breaking away from societal expectations and conventional boundaries. Building on the genre-blending approach of his previous album, ‘Algorithm’, the project continues to incorporate elements of R&B, rock, and alternative music while introducing a lighter, more relaxed sonic direction.
Longtime collaborator and producer D’Mile contributed to the project, alongside a lineup of featured artists including Leon Thomas, Pusha T, Muni Long, Akeem Ali, and The Paradox.
The title track, ‘Mouf Say’, featuring Pusha T, is a jazz-influenced R&B song that explores the tension between words and actions in a romantic relationship. Previously released singles have also gained attention, with ‘Nowhere Fast’, which samples Rihanna’s ‘Birthday Cake’, reaching the Top 20 on U.S. R&B radio, while ‘Fly U Out’, featuring Leon Thomas, peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard R&B chart.
Before launching his solo career, Lucky Daye worked as a songwriter and background vocalist for artists including Ne-Yo and Boyz II Men. Since making his solo debut in 2018, he has continued to expand his musical career, contributing as a co-writer to Beyoncé’s ‘ALIEN SUPERSTAR’ and releasing ‘That’s You’, produced by Bruno Mars.
In 2022, he won the Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album with ‘Table For Two’, followed by Best Traditional R&B Performance for ‘That’s You’ in 2025. With two Grammy wins to his name, Lucky Daye continues to establish his presence in contemporary R&B, further developing his distinctive sound through ‘ALOUD!’.
