배우 마동석이 인기 격투 게임을 원작으로 한 영화 ‘스트리트 파이터(Street Fighter)’에 특별 출연해 목소리 연기를 선보인다.

영화 ‘스트리트 파이터’는 1993년을 배경으로, 춘리의 제안으로 다시 격투장에서 맞붙게 된 숙명의 라이벌 류와 켄 마스터즈가 목숨을 건 배틀 로얄에 참가하며 거대한 음모와 마주하는 이야기를 그린 오락 액션 영화다.

마동석은 극 중 류(앤드류 코지)와 켄 마스터즈(노아 센티네오)의 스승인 ‘고우켄’의 목소리를 맡았다. 고우켄은 어린 시절부터 함께 무술을 수련하며 형제처럼 성장한 류와 켄을 가르친 인물로, 두 사람의 과거를 다룬 애니메이션 장면에 등장한다. 마동석은 특유의 묵직하고 강렬한 목소리로 캐릭터에 존재감을 더할 예정이다.

‘범죄도시’ 시리즈와 마블 스튜디오의 ‘이터널스(Eternals)’를 통해 국내외 관객들에게 강렬한 인상을 남긴 마동석은 이번 작품에서 액션 연기가 아닌 보이스 액팅으로 새로운 모습을 선보인다. 특별 출연 소식과 함께 한국 관객들을 향한 마동석의 그리팅 영상도 공개됐다.

키타오 사쿠라이 감독이 연출한 ‘스트리트 파이터’에는 노아 센티네오, 앤드류 코지, 칼리나 리앙, 제이슨 모모아, 50 센트 등 다양한 배우들이 출연한다. 영화는 10월 14일 국내 극장에서 개봉했다.

Ma Dong-seok Joins ‘Street Fighter’ as the Voice of Gouken, Ryu and Ken’s Master

South Korean actor Ma Dong-seok, also known internationally as Don Lee, makes a special appearance in the live-action film adaptation of the iconic fighting game franchise Street Fighter, lending his voice to Gouken, the legendary martial arts master of Ryu and Ken.

Set in 1993, Street Fighter follows longtime rivals Ryu and Ken Masters as they reunite in the fighting arena at Chun-Li’s invitation. What begins as a fierce competition soon draws them into a deadly battle royale, where they uncover a far-reaching conspiracy.

Ma voices Gouken, the mentor who trained Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) from childhood. Appearing in animated sequences that explore the two fighters’ shared past, Gouken plays a significant role in establishing their history and brother-like bond. Ma’s distinctive, powerful voice is expected to bring a commanding presence to the character.

Best known for his performances in the blockbuster The Roundup franchise and Marvel Studios’ Eternals, Ma has established himself as a prominent figure in Korean action cinema and international productions. His latest role offers audiences a different side of the actor, showcasing his talents through voice acting rather than his signature physical performances. A special greeting video featuring Ma addressing Korean audiences has also been released.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter features an ensemble cast including Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Jason Momoa, and 50 Cent. The film opened in South Korean theaters on October 14, 2026.
