‘Girl’s Hood’의 첫 번째 이야기를 담은 〈Circle in Me〉가 서로 다른 감정과 태도 속에서도 공감하고 연대할 수 있다는 메시지를 전했다면, 〈LET THEM〉은 그다음 단계로 향한다.
“Let them talk”, “Let them watch”, “Let them judge”라는 반복적인 표현을 통해 누군가 자신을 말하고 바라보고 판단하는 행위 자체를 통제하려 하지 않는다.
‘Girl’s Hood’

Jiselle and SUMMER CAKE are sending a clear message about moving beyond outside judgment and focusing on one’s own path.
On September 12, the two artists released “LET THEM,” the second single from their collaborative project Girl’s Hood. Following “Circle in Me,” the R&B/Soul track further defines the project’s identity and the message the pair aim to deliver together.
While “Circle in Me,” the first chapter of Girl’s Hood, explored emotional connection and solidarity despite different experiences and perspectives, “LET THEM” moves the narrative forward. Instead of constantly worrying about what others say, think, or decide about you, the song suggests leaving those judgments where they belong—and continuing to focus on your own life.
The title itself captures that attitude directly: let them. Rather than trying to respond to every opinion, explain yourself, or prove your worth, the track embraces the idea of allowing others to think whatever they want. For two female artists who have continued developing their own musical identities amid countless external expectations, the message feels less like a passing statement and more like a reflection of how they choose to move forward.
Sonically, “LET THEM” carries that confidence through a groove-driven sound with Afrobeats-influenced R&B elements. Jiselle and SUMMER CAKE’s contrasting vocal tones move naturally across the stripped-back production, creating an effortless sense of assurance rather than forcing the song’s message. Within its concise 2-minute-and-23-second runtime, the track relies on a repetitive hook and the chemistry between their voices to make its point quickly and clearly.
The lyrics reinforce that direction through recurring phrases such as “Let them talk,” “Let them watch,” and “Let them judge.” The song does not attempt to control other people’s reactions. Instead, its focus remains on holding onto one’s own standards after those judgments have been made. Jiselle and SUMMER CAKE both participated in writing the lyrics and co-composed the track with REDIC, who also handled the arrangement.
That message also continues in a recently shared social media clip. Alongside the video, the caption reads:
“let em talk while u elevate”
The short phrase neatly condenses the attitude behind “LET THEM”: while others continue talking, the priority is to keep moving upward rather than remain caught in their words.
Girl’s Hood stands out as more than a one-off collaboration between two artists. The project allows Jiselle and SUMMER CAKE to share their perspectives and experiences through a continuing musical narrative. If its first release focused on empathy and solidarity, “LET THEM” takes the next step toward self-assurance and personal agency.
Rather than explaining yourself in an attempt to change someone else’s judgment, sometimes the stronger choice is simply to let them talk—and keep moving in your own direction.
“LET THEM” is available now across major streaming platforms.
