강렬한 인트로 댄스로 무대를 연 이들은 세 번째 미니앨범 ‘SET THE TEMPO’의 타이틀곡 ‘METRONOME’과 ‘R.I.P.’
첫 KCON LA 무대에 오른 이들은 ‘0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)’, ‘Good Boy Gone Bad’, ‘Deja Vu’ 등 다양한 곡으로 공연을 구성했다. (I’ll See You There Tomorrow)’의 DREAM STAGE는 아티스트와 관객 사이의 경계를 허물며 깊은 인상을 남겼다.

A New Wave of K-Pop Takes Over LA: What KCON LA 2026 Left Behind
Three days, over 142,000 attendees, and a celebration of Korean culture extending far beyond music.
KCON, the global festival that has brought K-pop fans together across borders, once again transformed Los Angeles into a vibrant celebration of Korean culture. Held from August 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena, KCON LA 2026 brought together music, beauty, food, and entertainment in a three-day cultural experience.
According to CJ ENM, the event attracted more than 142,000 attendees and featured 36 participating acts, including artists and actors. A total of 144 companies and brands operated 724 booths, while major performances and programs were streamed to more than 250 regions worldwide. Since its debut in Irvine, California, in 2012, KCON has evolved into a global platform for K-pop. This year, under the theme “K-SOUL CITY,” the festival brought the energy and cultural identity of Seoul to Los Angeles, expanding its reach beyond music into Korean lifestyle and entertainment.
Music remained at the heart of the festival. Each evening, the M COUNTDOWN STAGE at Crypto.com Arena featured a different headliner, with NCT 127, ZEROBASEONE, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER leading the three nights. Extended performance sets gave each group more room to showcase its musical identity and stage presence.
&TEAM also made a powerful impression on the opening day. The nine-member group delivered six songs at the ARTIST STAGE, including “Go in Blind,” showcasing synchronized choreography and dynamic performances. They later took over the M COUNTDOWN STAGE with “Rush” and “Deer Hunter,” demonstrating their commanding stage presence in the arena. A special BTS tribute collaboration with Latin American boy group SANTOS BRAVOS became another highlight, with &TEAM performing “2.0” before joining the group for “Permission to Dance.” The performance celebrated the ability of music to connect artists across languages and cultures.
ZEROBASEONE headlined the second night with dynamic choreography and special performances. A cover of Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” by SUNG HAN BIN, SEOK MATTHEW, and PARK GUN WOOK drew particular attention from local media. Solo stages by NCT’s TAEYONG and TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s YEONJUN further highlighted the individual artistry within K-pop.
Girl group izna also captivated the audience with its distinctive musical identity and confident stage presence. Opening with a powerful dance introduction, the group performed “METRONOME,” the title track from its third mini-album, SET THE TEMPO, alongside “R.I.P.” A voguing-inspired dance break and a striking reinterpretation of BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” further showcased the group’s versatility. At the ARTIST STAGE, izna connected more closely with international fans through performances of “Mamma Mia,” “SASS,” and “DRIP,” among other tracks. Their energetic use of the 360-degree stage highlighted their continued growth as performers.
One of the festival’s most talked-about moments was the special reunion performance by Wanna One. Returning to the KCON LA stage for the first time in nine years, nine members reunited to perform beloved hits including “Energetic” and “BOOMERANG.” The group also premiered “다시 봄바람,” reconnecting with fans who have followed their journey over the years. The performance demonstrated how K-pop continues to resonate across generations, allowing familiar music to take on new meaning.
The festival also created opportunities for emerging artists to connect with international audiences. RESCENE, NEXZ, MODYSSEY, ONE PACT, cosmosy, and So!YoON!, among others, showcased their music across multiple performance spaces. A newly introduced program, CHEER UP STAGE, selected 12 audience members as official supporters to promote and champion a featured artist, with RESCENE chosen as its first participant. The initiative offered fans a more active role in discovering and supporting rising talent.
Beyond the concerts, KCON LA 2026 highlighted the growing global appeal of Korean culture. The convention center featured a Korean-style night market alongside K-beauty, food, and interactive entertainment experiences. The first-ever OLIVE YOUNG FESTA LA 2026 brought together 55 K-beauty brands, while K-COLLECTION introduced products from 40 Korean small and medium-sized businesses.
The newly launched K-STORY ZONE welcomed actors PARK EUN BIN, LEE JUN HYUK, and SANG HEON LEE for interactive sessions with local fans. Through screenings and conversations centered on Korean film and television, the program demonstrated how the global interest generated by K-pop continues to extend into other areas of Korean entertainment.
International media also took notice of the festival’s cultural significance. Billboard highlighted performances that reflected the diversity of genres and cultural influences within K-pop, while the Los Angeles Times emphasized the sense of community created as fans sang, danced, and celebrated together. KCON has become more than a music festival, serving as a space where people from different backgrounds connect through a shared cultural experience.
The festival’s momentum continued online. According to figures released by CJ ENM on September 3, digital content related to KCON LA 2026 surpassed 43 million cumulative views, marking a 173% increase from the previous year. A short-form video featuring Wanna One’s performance of “Energetic” alone exceeded 3 million views.
The significance of KCON LA 2026 extends beyond its impressive attendance figures. From major headlining performances and the discovery of emerging talent to cross-border collaborations and fan-driven programs, the festival reflected the increasingly diverse ways K-pop engages with audiences around the world.
What began as a modest event in 2012 has grown into a cultural experience that reaches far beyond the concert stage. Whether singing along to familiar songs or discovering a new favorite artist, the most lasting impression of KCON LA 2026 was the shared connection made possible through music.
