지난 10월 22일 서울 성수동에서 열린 ‘LISA PRESS PLAY LISTENING PARTY’는 앨범 정식 발매 하루 전, 초청된 팬 100명에게 신보를 가장 먼저 선보이는 특별한 자리로 마련됐다. 이번 리스닝 파티는 서울을 비롯해 런던, 파리, 토론토 등 글로벌 팬덤이 집중된 주요 도시에서도 개최되며 리사의 새로운 음악을 향한 기대감을 높였다.

LISA Turns Music Into Cinema: ‘PRESS PLAY’ Listening Party Opens a New Chapter

BLACKPINK’s LISA has opened a new chapter in her musical journey. Ahead of the release of her first solo EP, PRESS PLAY, the global superstar hosted exclusive listening parties in major cities around the world, inviting fans into a cinematic universe shaped by her latest project.

On October 22, the LISA PRESS PLAY LISTENING PARTY took place in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, welcoming 100 invited fans for an exclusive first listen to the EP, one day before its official release. Similar private events were held in London, Paris, and Toronto, bringing the experience to fans across key international cities and building anticipation for LISA’s return.

The Seoul venue was transformed into a retro Hollywood cinema, reflecting the cinematic identity of the new project. Surrounded by a vintage theater-inspired setting, fans were among the first to experience all six tracks, discovering the musical direction and visual atmosphere of PRESS PLAY. More than a traditional listening session, the event brought the concept of the EP into a physical space, allowing fans to engage with the project beyond the music itself.

Special details added a personal touch to the gathering. Attendees received commemorative gifts featuring both the Thai greeting “Sawadika” and the Korean word “Annyeong,” symbolically connecting LISA’s cultural roots with her Korean fans. Early reactions were enthusiastic, with attendees describing the EP as the perfect soundtrack for moments when they want to feel confident and empowered.

Released worldwide on October 23, PRESS PLAY marks LISA’s first solo EP and her first album release in approximately one year and eight months. The six-track project features the title track “Tarantino,” alongside “Sawadika,” “V12,” “Cobra,” “Cut U Off,” and “Sweat.” While her previous album, ALTER EGO, explored the different dimensions of her identity through multiple personas, PRESS PLAY embraces a bolder creative direction, bringing music, visual storytelling, and cinematic influences together.

The title track, “Tarantino,” draws inspiration from filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, incorporating references that evoke his distinctive cinematic universe, including Kill Bill and Death Proof. Its accompanying music video combines action-driven storytelling with striking visual direction, placing LISA at the center of a narrative that reflects the project’s cinematic ambition.

The pre-release single “Sawadika” highlights another dimension of LISA’s artistic identity. Inspired by a traditional Thai greeting, the track draws on her cultural heritage, while its music video, filmed in her hometown of Bangkok, brings that connection into focus. The song reached No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, further reinforcing her international presence. LISA also made history at the MTV Video Music Awards as the first Asian solo artist to win Best Pop, marking another milestone in her career.
