웨이브투어스(wave to earth)가 두 번째 정규앨범 [bad pieces]와 함께 월드투어의 포문을 열었다. 9월 시작한 ‘wave to earth world tour 2026 - the pieces tour’는 샌프란시스코 공연에 이어 로스앤젤레스 그릭 시어터(Greek Theatre) 공연까지 전석 매진을 기록하며 북미 투어 초반부터 열기를 더하고 있다.
이번 투어에서 눈에 띄는 것은 한층 커진 무대다. 앞서 29회 규모의 북미 투어를 모두 매진시킨 웨이브투어스는 이번에도 주요 도시에서 매진을 이어가며 공연의 규모를 넓혔다. 특히 LA의 역사적인 공연장인 그릭 시어터는 엘튼 존, 프랭크 시나트라부터 해리 스타일스, 올리비아 로드리고까지 여러 세대의 아티스트가 거쳐 간 곳이다. 이곳을 가득 채운 관객은 웨이브투어스의 음악이 현지에서 쌓아온 지지 기반을 보여준다.
무대의 확장과 함께 음악에도 변화가 찾아왔다. 지난 8월 7일 발매한 [bad pieces]는 2024년 EP [play with earth! 0.03] 이후 약 2년 만의 신보다. 밴드를 세계에 알린 로파이 재즈 기반의 사운드에서 한 걸음 나아가 새로운 악기와 다양한 소리를 시도했다. 웨이브투어스는 이러한 변화를 자신들에게 가장 가까워진 결과물이라고 설명한다. 익숙한 성공 공식을 이어가기보다 지금의 모습을 솔직하게 담는 데 집중한 셈이다.
앨범을 관통하는 것은 불완전함을 인정하는 태도다. 엉망인 조각들이 모여 하나의 진심이 된다는 생각 아래, 밴드는 스스로도 서툴고 불완전한 존재임을 고백한다. 정답을 건네기보다 듣는 이의 곁에 머물며 잠시 평온한 시간을 만들고자 한다. 타이틀곡 ‘courage’와 서브 타이틀곡 ‘hyang’을 비롯해 총 11곡이 수록된 이번 앨범은 그 마음을 담았다. ‘the pieces tour’는 이 새로운 음악을 세계 각지의 관객과 직접 나누는 자리다.
투어는 9월부터 12월까지 북미 22개 도시와 아시아 8개 도시, 서울 공연 3회를 포함해 총 33회 규모로 진행된다. LA 그릭 시어터를 비롯해 뉴욕 라디오 시티 뮤직홀(Radio City Music Hall), 싱가포르 인도어 스타디움(Singapore Indoor Stadium) 등이 주요 공연장에 이름을 올렸다.
이러한 행보에는 꾸준히 쌓아온 라이브 경험이 자리한다. 웨이브투어스는 2024년부터 2025년까지 시카고와 브라질, 인도의 롤라팔루자를 포함해 100회 이상의 공연을 소화했다. 국내에서도 올해 2월 서울 올림픽홀 단독 공연 3회가 티켓 오픈 1분 만에 매진됐으며, 12월 예정된 화정체육관 단독 공연 3회 역시 예매 시작 직후 전석 매진을 기록했다.
더 넓어진 공연장과 새로운 사운드를 함께 선보이는 ‘the pieces tour’. 불완전한 조각들에서 출발한 웨이브투어스의 이야기가 이번에는 세계 곳곳의 무대에서 이어진다.

wave to earth Bring the New Sounds of ‘bad pieces’ to the World Stage
‘the pieces tour’ kicks off in North America with sellouts in San Francisco and at LA’s Greek Theatre
wave to earth have launched their world tour alongside their second full-length album, [bad pieces]. Beginning in September, ‘wave to earth world tour 2026 - the pieces tour’ has already sold out shows in San Francisco and at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, building momentum from the outset of its North American leg.
One notable feature of this tour is the move to larger stages. Having previously sold out all 29 dates of their North American tour, wave to earth have expanded their venues while continuing to sell out shows in major cities. LA’s historic Greek Theatre, in particular, has hosted generations of artists, from Elton John and Frank Sinatra to Harry Styles and Olivia Rodrigo. The capacity crowd reflects the support the band’s music has built among local audiences.
Alongside this expansion comes a shift in their music. Released on August 7, [bad pieces] is the band’s first new release in approximately two years, following their 2024 EP [play with earth! 0.03]. Moving beyond the lo-fi jazz foundation that introduced them to listeners worldwide, the album explores new instruments and a broader range of sounds. wave to earth describe this evolution as the result of becoming more closely aligned with who they are. Rather than repeating a familiar formula for success, they have focused on capturing their present selves honestly.
At the heart of the album is an acceptance of imperfection. Guided by the idea that messy pieces can come together to form something sincere, the band acknowledge their own awkwardness and imperfections. Rather than offering answers, they seek to stay beside their listeners and create a moment of peace. The album’s 11 tracks, including the title track ‘courage’ and secondary title track ‘hyang’, carry that sentiment. ‘the pieces tour’ offers an opportunity to share this new music directly with audiences around the world.
Running from September through December, the tour comprises 33 shows across 22 North American cities and eight Asian cities, along with three performances in Seoul. Major venues include LA’s Greek Theatre, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, and Singapore Indoor Stadium.
This trajectory is grounded in the band’s steadily accumulated live experience. Between 2024 and 2025, wave to earth played more than 100 shows, including appearances at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Brazil, and India. Their domestic following has been equally strong: all three headline shows at Seoul’s Olympic Hall in February sold out within one minute of tickets going on sale, while their three December headline shows at Hwajeong Gymnasium also sold out immediately after ticket sales opened.
With larger venues and new sounds, ‘the pieces tour’ brings both sides of wave to earth’s growth to the stage. A story that began with imperfect pieces now continues on stages around the world.
