HYUKOH’s New Track in Just 9 Days… Releases New Single ⟪KoK⟫ on August 27
New Single ⟪KoK⟫: A Lonely Question Directed Toward That Day Yet to Come
Bold 8-Minute 27-Second Running Time: HYUKOH Continues Their Journey with Yet Another Bold Musical Move
HYUKOH will release their new single KoK on August 27. This comes just 9 days after Godspeed!, which was unveiled on August 18 for the first time in six years.
KoK deals with the paradoxical loneliness faced at a point one believed to be the pinnacle of achievement. Capturing the aspirations held by everyday people enduring each day for their dreams and asking lonely questions about a future day yet to come, the track delivers deep resonance and comfort to us all.
Notably, it catches attention by capturing bittersweet reminiscences and waves of unidentifiable emotions left unsaid across an 8-minute and 27-second run time to complete the song’s narrative. The track previously left a strong impression when it was unexpectedly previewed on stage at the '2026 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival' on August 1, drawing even greater anticipation ahead of its official release.
The participation of Yu Su as a co-producer also draws keen attention. Critical acclaim has surrounded Yu Su for works released through world-renowned labels like 'Technicolour' and 'Music From Memory'. As one of the most watchable artists in the current scene, Yu Su has been selected for 'Best New Music' by the US-based webzine Pitchfork and nominated for Canada's 'Polaris Music Prize'.
The music video, released alongside the track, was directed by Song Seoyun, who freely moves between visual arts and subcultural sensibilities based on broad cultural experiences. Beginning against the backdrop of a high school sports day, the music video invokes collective memories and nostalgia through familiar Korean school spaces and objects like uniforms, auditoriums, and schoolyards. However, it reconstructs these elements with a unique mise-en-scène that goes beyond typical imagery. In particular, surreal scenes featuring numerous dancers performing traditional dance movements—such as Talchum (mask dance), Sajachum (lion dance), and Buchaechum (fan dance)—heighten immersion through the distinctive aesthetic of KoK.
The cover artwork for KoK was created by artist An Minjung, following her work on Godspeed!. This artwork reinterprets key elements from the music video through the artist's unique creative visual language. The Sisyphus myth motif located in the upper right corner symbolizes the repetitive structure of life while serving as a metaphor for the diverse memories and experiences that ultimately make up all of our lives through the countless elements filling the canvas.
Furthermore, the music video unveils the unreleased new lineup 'XT-EVO' from global mountain sports lifestyle brand Salomon for the first time. Special custom pieces reinterpreting Salomon's 1990s archive items from HYUKOH's perspective add an extra layer of visual engagement. The XT-EVO lineup previewed in the music video will be available at official Salomon online and offline stores starting September 2, while the Salomon custom pieces worn by the members will be displayed at the Salomon Seongsu Flagship Store for about a month starting in early September.
The new singles KoK and Godspeed! serve as two major clues indicating the new musical path HYUKOH is currently navigating. Expectations are high for the musical universe HYUKOH will unfold moving forward, having presented two songs of contrasting genres and styles in August alone. Meanwhile, HYUKOH's new single KoK will be available on all major music streaming platforms starting at 6:00 PM on August 27.
