Perspectives on fame from Peder Elias

Despite his success and awards Norwegian singer and songwriter Peder Elias Eriksrud Kjørholt is not in any hall of fame just yet. But with «Hall of Fame» he shares his new perspective on fame.

«I love my life as an artist, and I am extremely grateful for all that I get to experience. And I would do it all again. But every form of success demands hard work and sacrifice, which sometimes can feel very overwhelming».

In Norway even the royal family can walk around freely, so Peder Elias, walks his dog, pops down to the corner shop and uses public transport in and around his hometown of Oslo. So, the contrast is huge when he travels to the other side of the globe where every moment of his day is planned and he needs bodyguards to move around safely.

«With this song I’m not complaining about success and fame, it’s more a reminder that things aren’t always how they look. Everyone, however successful they are, have bad days as well as good. But we all tend to hide those and forget that other people do so to, not just in social media, but in life».

Peder Elias explains that he wrote the first draft for «Hall of Fame» in Stockholm with the producer KJ earlier this year. It started out as a breakup-song, but when he completed it with fellow Norwegian artist and songwriter Emelie Hollow it changed.

«She’s great to work with, and together we flipped the story. I often – mostly – write about love, but I also like writing about the challenges we all face in our everyday lives. And my Hannah Montana-style life is my everyday now. I really enjoyed getting Emelie’s input on a situation which is both weird and wonderful».

This summer saw Peder Elias travelling to Taiwan for the very first time to play the So Wonderful festival for tens of thousands of fans. Then he got to experience almost the same, except he could travel by electric scooter, when he played for a crowd of 30.000 during the opening show for international soccer festival Norway Cup in Oslo.

«I love playing football, soccer, so this cup and the opening show are special to me. When I was a kid me and my team would go see the opening show, and I wouldn’t just dream of us winning the cup. I would dream of performing on the big stage in front of everyone, and it’s just as amazing as I hoped».

Now Peder Elias and his band are busy preparing for his first ever tour of Asia where he’ll be performing «Hall of Fame» as well as hits and fan favourites such as «Bonfire», «Loving You Girl», «Good For You», «Better Alone», «Favourite Mistake» and «While I’m Still Getting Over You».

«Touring truly highlights the ups and downs of being an artist. There’s a lot of travelling and stress, and small margins for error. But nothing compares to being up on stage in front of people who are having a great time as they sing along to my songs. It is my greatest joy and honour as an artist».

«Hall of Fame» by Peder Elias is out on Friday 15th September
