MZMC, the acclaimed producer behind numerous hits for major K-pop artists under SM Entertainment, is launching a new five-member girl group named VVS. Known for his work on songs such as NCT’s “Walk,” NCT DOJAEJUNG’s “Perfume,” NCT 127’s “Cherry Bomb,” NCT U’s “The 7th Sense,” EXO’s “Love Shot,” “Ko Ko Bop,” and “Tempo,” as well as RIIZE’s “Love 119,” Taeyeon’s “Fine,” and Red Velvet’s “RBB” and “Rookie,” MZMC brings years of industry experience to this latest project.
VVS, a name that plays on both “5 vs.” and the highest commercial clarity grade for diamonds (“Very Very Slightly Included”), has been in development for the past five years under MZMC’s direction. The group consists of Brittney (leader), ILee (main rapper), Rana (main dancer), Jiu (main vocalist), and Liwon (maknae). Each member has undergone extensive training in preparation for their official debut.
Even before their debut, the group has attracted international attention. Billboard US featured the group in early 2024, and CNN, in collaboration with Anderson Cooper, produced a mini-documentary chronicling their journey—from early development to the final lineup selection, which concluded in early 2025.
Recently, VVS released a cinematic teaser trailer ahead of their debut, drawing attention for its intense action sequences featuring fight choreography, blood effects, and gunfire. The teaser has sparked widespread speculation about a deeper narrative or conceptual universe linked to their music. The high-budget trailer was directed by HOBIN Film, known for work with artists such as AKMU, SEVENTEEN, DAY6, Kang Daniel, Bae Suzy, and Lim Young-woong, as well as global brands like Gentle Monster, Ader Error, and Hyundai Motor Group. The action choreography was led by Koji Kawamoto, a stunt coordinator celebrated for his involvement in John Wick: Chapter 4 and Netflix’s One Piece live-action series.
VVS is scheduled to make their official debut on April 22, 2025, with the release of their first single, “TEA,” accompanied by a B-side track titled “FACT$.” The single will be distributed by YG Plus. With strong backing from industry veterans, a high-concept visual approach, and early international buzz, VVS is positioned to make a strong first impression in the competitive K-pop landscape.
