유주가 이 여름에 시원하고 사랑스러운 <이브닝>으로 컴백했다. 설레는 마음을 낮과 밤으로 표현한 이번 신곡은 유주가 작사에 참여해 노래의 밀도를 한층 높였다. 디지털 싱글로 발표된 이번 신곡은 그녀의 말처럼 ‘늘 꺼내 듣고 싶은’ 곡이 될 것이 분명하다. 롤링스톤 코리아는 상큼한 여름 향기를 가득 안고 돌아온 유주와 이번 앨범에 대해 향기로운 대화를 나눴다.
1. [RSK] 안녕하세요, 유주 님! 롤링스톤 코리아와 인터뷰로 만나게 되어 반갑습니다. 간단한 자기소개와 인사를 부탁드립니다.
안녕하세요. <이브닝>으로 돌아온 유주입니다. 반갑습니다.
2. [RSK] 근황부터 들어볼까요?
여름을 맞이하여 이 계절과 잘 어울리는 <이브닝>이라는 곡을 발매했습니다. 연습도 하고 작업도 하면서 이 여름을 보내고 있어요.
3. [RSK] 신곡으로 팬들 곁을 다시 찾은 소감이 남다를 것 같아요.
다시 오지 않을 이 순간을 기념하여 팬분들께 예쁜 곡을 선물해 드리고 싶었어요. 제게 <이브닝>은 때로는 쓸쓸하게 들리기도 하고, 때로는 가슴이 두근거리게도 하는 아리송하고 매력적인 곡이에요. 한여름의 뜨거운 공기가 차차 식어가는 시간대에 들으면서 잠시 숨을 돌리며 휴식을 취하실 수 있었으면 좋겠어요.
4. [RSK] 피처링으로 함께한 빅나티(BIG Naughty) 님과의 호흡은 어땠는지도 궁금해요.
빅나티 님 덕분에 곡이 더 재밌어진 것 같아요. 이건 나중에 알게 된 사실인데, 2절 벌스에 빅나티님 파트에 제 이름과 연관된 가사가 있어요. 세심하게 신경 쓰며 작업해 주셔서 너무 고마웠어요. 좋은 케미였다고 생각합니다!
5. [RSK] 올해에는 드라마 <키스 식스 센스>와 <오싹한 동거> OST에도 참여하셨던데, 이처럼 드라마 OST로도 사랑받는 비결이 뭘까요?
사랑받는 비결이라… 제 입으로 얘기하기가 조금 부끄럽지만, 제 목소리가 여러 분위기에 잘 어울리는 편이라 그런 게 아닐까 싶어요. 지금까지 부른 OST 중에는 아주 경쾌하고 귀여운 곡도 있고, 굉장히 무게감 있는 곡도 있거든요. 앞으로도 계속 OST에 참여할 기회가 주어지면 좋겠습니다.
6. [RSK] 마지막 질문이에요. 대중에게 어떤 아티스트로 기억되고 싶은가요?
저의 색이 확실한 가수가 되었으면 좋겠어요. 그리고 언제든 꺼내 듣고 싶어지는 음악을 만드는 사람이 되고 싶습니다.

YUJU returns with a fresh summer scent
YUJU has made a comeback this summer with her fresh and lovely song <Evening>. The song expresses the fluttering heart using the concepts of day and night, and YUJU’s participation in writing the lyrics further increases the depth of her song. This digital single will certainly be a song to “listen to all the time” as she puts it. Rolling Stone Korea started a conversation with YUJU, who returned with a refreshing summer scent, about her new album.
1. [RSK] Hello, YUJU! It’s great to meet you through the Rolling Stone Korea interview. Could you briefly greet and introduce yourself?
Hello. This is YUJU. I am back with <Evening>. Nice to meet you.
2. [RSK] How have you been doing recently?
With the coming of summer, I released a song called <Evening> that suits this season well. I’m spending time practicing and working too.
3. [RSK] You must feel excited to come back to the fans with a new song.
I wanted to present a beautiful song to the fans to remember this moment that won’t come back again. To me, <Evening> is a mysterious and charming song that sometimes sounds lonely and sometimes makes my heart pound. I hope it could be a song which allows the fans to take a break and rest at a time when the hot midsummer air gradually cools down.
4. [RSK] I'm also curious about how it was working with BIG Naughty who was featured in the song.
I think the song became more interesting thanks to BIG Naughty. Actually, I belatedly found out that he used my name in the lyrics, in his part in verse 2. I was very thankful because he worked with meticulous attention to detail. I think we had good chemistry!
5. [RSK] This year, you also participated in the Original Television Soundtrack (OST) of the drama <Kiss Sixth Sense> and <My Chilling Roommate>. We often see you sing drama OSTs. What is the secret to being loved?
The secret to being loved. It’s a bit embarrassing to say it myself, but I think it’s because my voice fits well with various moods. I’ve sung very cheerful and cute songs as well as very deep songs. I hope I’ll get more opportunities to participate in soundtracks in the future.
6. [RSK] One last question. What kind of artist do you want to be remembered by the public?
I want to become a singer who has my own style, and someone who makes music that people want to listen to at any time.
