아역배우로 데뷔하여 어린이 프로그램 출연 등 다양한 활동을 했고 성인이 되어서는 세계적으로 주목을 받는 배우가 되기까지, 이은샘의 재능은 그야말로 널리 펴져 있는 무지개와 같다. 이은샘이라는 사람 자체가 주는 총천연색의 긍정 에너지도 놀랍지만, 그 에너지에서 응축되어 나오는 폭발적인 연기는 드라마 <지금 우리 학교는>이 공전의 히트를 한 주요한 이유 중 하나일 것이다.
그러고 보니 확실히 근래에는 OTT 시장을 통해 스타덤에 오르는 여배우들을 보게 된다. 충무로에서는 몇 해 전까지만 해도 ‘여배우 기근 상태’이라는 걱정스러운 얘기가 많았으나, 다만 그들에게는 올라설 무대가 없었을 뿐이었는지 모른다. 결국 흘려진 기회는 능력으로 잡는 법. OTT 드라마를 통해 자신을 제대로 전시한 이 전도유망한 배우는 모두가 기대하는 스타가 되었다.
그러나 스타덤에 올라섰음에도 이 배우, 참으로 해맑다. 굳이 성장기에 어린이 프로그램에 출연하지 않았더라도 언젠가는 화면에서 필연적으로 만날 보게 될 사람임에 틀림없다. 롤링스톤 코리아는 인터뷰 내내 순수한 활기를 내뿜는 이 배우의 참모습에 흠뻑 빠져들고 말았다.
안녕하세요. 이은샘님, 롤링스톤 코리아와의 인터뷰를 통해 만나게 되어 반갑습니다. 본격적인 인터뷰에 앞서 간단한 자기소개와 인사를 부탁드립니다.
안녕하세요! 배우 이은샘입니다! 만나서 반갑습니다!
캐스팅으로 연기를 시작했다고 들었어요. 타의로 시작한 지 14년이라는 시간이 흘렀는데, 연기가 오로지 본인의 의지와 맞물려 있다고 느꼈을 때가 언제였나요?
타인에 의해 시작하긴 했지만 캐스팅 제의를 받아들인 건 저였어요! 어머니의 말씀에 의하면 (제가) 어렸을 때부터 춤추고 누군가를 따라 하고 사진 찍는 걸 워낙 좋아했다고 하더라고요. 그 누구도 저에게 배우를 하라고 강요한 적은 없어서 처음 연기를 했을 때부터 늘 제 의지와 맞물려 있었다고 생각합니다.
지금까지 맡았던 배역 중 가장 기억에 남는 배역이 있다면요? 그 이유는?
<지금 우리 학교는>의 박미진 역이 가장 기억에 많이 남는 것 같아요. 매번 주어진 대사에 연기만 열심히 했었다면, 이 작품은 시나리오를 읽고 감독님과 함께 의논하며 수정과 추가도 함께하면서 ‘아, 내가 이 작품에 정말 참여하고 있구나’ 하고 느꼈어요. 그리고 배우란 단순히 주어진 대사를 외워 연기만 하는 것이 아니라 작품에 함께 참여해서 만들어가는 직업이라는 것을 느끼면서 제 직업에 대한 자부심이 커지게 되었어요! 그리고 저의 수많은 팬분들의 모임인 ‘옹달샘’이 (이 작품을 계기로) 생긴 게 가장 큰 이유입니다!
연기를 시작했던 어린 이은샘에게 해주고 싶은 이야기가 있다면요?
너무 잘한 선택이었다고 말해 주고 싶네요. 또 포기하지 않아 주어서 너무 고맙다고 얘기해 주고 싶어요. 그리고 그때의 저도 지금처럼 늘 즐기면서 연기했기 때문에, 현재도 연기에 대한 마음은 변함없이 잘 이어가고 있는 중이라고 말해 주고 싶어요.
대중에게 이은샘이라는 배우가 누구인지 알려지는 2022년이 될 것 같아요. 이은샘 배우의 앞으로의 모습은 어떨 것으로 예상하세요?
앞으로도 지금과 똑같이 늘 도전적이고 새로운 모습을 보여드리고 싶어요! 꾸준히 얼굴을 비추면서 팬분들과 많이 소통하고 만나고 싶습니다!

We are so into, Lee Eun-saem
From her debut as a child actor working on various children’s programs to working on multiple shows as an adult, Lee Eun-saem has shown a vast array of talents with a spectrum as colorful as a rainbow. Adding to that is Lee Eun-saem’s natural positive energy and explosive, dynamic acting skills, which may be why “All of Us Are Dead” became a hit series.
We have recently seen actors rise to stardom through the OTT market. Until a few years ago, there were concerns regarding the so-called “lack of actors.” But the truth could be that there just may not have been a stage for them to shine.
In the end, opportunities are seized by talent. This promising actress, who presented herself in an OTT series, has become a much anticipated rising star.
Despite her rise to stardom, Lee Eun-saem radiates positive energy. Even if she had not appeared on children’s programs early on in her career, we would have seen her at some point. We at Rolling Stone Korea immersed ourselves in the authenticity of this actress, who exuded a refreshing innocence throughout the interview.
Hello, Lee Eun-saem. It’s great to meet you. Before we start the interview, please introduce yourself and greet our readers.
Hello! I’m the actress, Lee Eun-saem! Nice to meet you!
I heard that you were accidentally cast in your first job at the start of your career. It’s been 14 years since you unintentionally started acting. But when did you feel truly at home acting?
I ultimately accepted the casting offer (although it may have been unintentional). According to my mother, I loved dancing, imitating people, and taking pictures as a child. No one ever forced me to become an actress. So, I think I’ve always wanted to act ever since my first role.
What’s the most memorable role you’ve ever played, and why?
I think the role of Park Mi-jin in, “All of Us Are Dead” is the most memorable. Usually, I work hard to focus on the lines given to me. However, for this role, I felt really immersed in the script. I discussed the scenes with the director and did some revising and editing, helping me feel more pride in my work. I have realized that actors don’t just act by memorizing the lines; they also participate in the process of creating the work. But the biggest reason why I find it so memorable is my fan club, “Ongdalsaem.”
Is there anything you’ve wanted to say to your younger self who began acting?
I want to tell her that it was a very good choice. Also, I want to thank her for not giving up. Since I enjoy acting as I do so now, I want to tell her that my feelings for acting are still strong and intact.
2022 will be when the public learns more about Lee Eun-saem. What do you expect from actor Lee Eun-saem in the future?
I want to show all of you my new and rebellious sides in the future! I want to appear in new works and communicate with my fans constantly!
