하루키드의 독특한 비트와 훅을 듣다 보면 어느새 나지막이 따라 하는 자신을 발견하게 된다. 그의 첫 정규앨범 [Mart Invader]가 그렇다. 소시민의 삶 속에서도 뜻밖에 음악을 뽑아내는 식견은 아무나 가질 수 있는 것이 아니다. 롤링스톤 코리아는 길에 떨어진 동전 하나를 보고서도 족히 4~5트랙은 뽑아낼 것 같은 그와 즐거운 시간을 보냈다.
안녕하세요, 하루키드 님. 롤링스톤 코리아 인터뷰를 통해 만나 뵙게 되어 반갑습니다. 먼저 간단한 자기소개와 인사 부탁드릴게요.
안녕하세요. 최근에 첫 정규앨범 [Mart Invader]를 공개한 하루키드입니다. 처음 인사드립니다.
보이스 컬러가 정말 좋아요. 게다가 음악을 들어보면 칠(chill)한 보이스 안에 타이트한 가사 전달도 굉장히 매력적으로 다가오는데요, 스스로 생각하는 내 음악의 매력 포인트는 무엇인가요?
뻔한 주제도 뻔하지 않게 표현하려고 노력합니다. 가사만 보고 읽을 때도 흥미로운 곡이었으면 해서 신선한 단어, 문장을 고르는 데 시간을 많이 씁니다. 키치한 멜로디라인, 여유롭고 그루브한 랩도 제 음악의 매력이라고 생각해요. 어디서든 편하게 듣기 좋은 노래인 것 같습니다.
하루키드 님의 음악적 색깔을 더해 함께 컬래버를 해보고 싶은 아티스트가 있나요? 이유는요?
Jclef(제이클레프) 님과 Jayho(제이호) 님이요. 제가 두 분의 엄청난 팬이에요. 곡을 듣다 보면 귀에 꽂히고 미소 짓게 되는 부분이 있어요. '오, 여기서 이런 단어를? 완전 재밌다' 하는 느낌으로요. 특히 제이클레프 님의 가사 쓰는 방식과 제이호 님 특유의 그루브한 랩을 좋아합니다.
2016년 싱글앨범인 [티케]를 시작으로 현재까지 일상에서 생각해 볼 법한 이야기로 다양한 싱글앨범을 발매하셨어요. 앞으로 하루키드 님이 만드실 음악에 꼭 담고 싶은 이야기가 있다면 어떤 것인가요?
제가 쓰게 될 주제는 매번 달라지겠지만, 들었을 때 웃음이 나는 음악을 만들고 싶어요. 웃겨서 웃는 음악이 아니고, '오, 이거! 노래가 꽤 재밌다'라는 느낌으로요. (웃음) 또 이건 요즘에 제가 좋은 음악의 기준으로 삼고 있는 건데요, 듣고 자극을 받아서 노래를 만들고 싶어지는 곡을 자주 듣게 되더라고요. 제가 만든 노래를 들었을 때 기분 좋은 창작 욕구가 생기는 그런 음악을 하고 싶어요.

Music by Haru Kid Spreads Throughout Our Daily Lives

If you listen to the unique beat of Haru Kid, you'll find yourself pleasantly following along with the beat. His first full-length album, "Mart Invader," is like that. Not everyone can create such insightful music based on the life of an ordinary person.
Rolling Stone Korea had a great time with Haru Kid, an artist who can easily make four to five tracks by simply observing a coin on the street.
Hello, Haru Kid. It's nice to meet you in this interview with Rolling Stone Korea. Please introduce yourself, and say hello.
Hello. I'm Haru Kid, and I just released my first full-length album. "Mart Invader." It's my first time here. It's so nice to meet you!
The style of your voice is amazing. The delivery of the rapid lyrics through your chill vocal is really remarkable. What do you think it is about your music that appeals to listeners?
I try to express relatable topics differently. I want the lyrics to be interesting, even if you just read them. So, I take a lot of time choosing new words and sentences. I also think kitsch melodies and relaxed, groovy rapping are also appealing. I think my music is comfortable to listen to wherever you are.
With your musical style, is there an artist you would like to collaborate with, and why?
Jclef and Jayho. I'm a huge fan of both of them. If you listen to their music, some parts stick in your mind and make you smile. It makes you think, "Wow, that word? Here? That's so witty!" I like Jclef's way of writing lyrics and Jayho's unique groovy rapping.
Starting with your single album "Tyche" in 2016, you have released various single albums that have stories about things we think of in our daily lives. Is there anything you would love to portray through your music in the future?
The topic will be different every time. But, I want to make music that brings out the desire to be creative when you listen to it. Not funny music, but songs that makes you think, "Whoa, this track is fun to listen to." (Laughs) These days, I've been listening to songs that motivate me to want to write music. That's what makes music great for me right now. I want to make music that brings out the creative desire when you listen to it.
