Rolling Stone Korea’s Perspective: “A Catalyst for Innovating Fandom Mobility and Expanding the Cultural Ecosystem Between Artists and Cities”
■ Trip.com Group and Live Nation Asia Unveil Joint Research Report, ‘The Concert Effect’ At the intersection of music and travel, the most dynamic tectonic shift in Asia's cultural landscape is taking place. On November 4, a media briefing co-hosted by Trip.com Group and Live Nation Asia was held in Singapore—the hub of Asian live entertainment and the global travel industry. To spotlight the rapidly growing phenomenon of 'Enter-tour-ment' (the convergence of entertainment and tourism) among music enthusiasts worldwide, Rolling Stone Korea was officially invited to capture the vibrant voices on-site and explore these global insights.
The joint research report unveiled at the event, The Concert Effect: How Live Music Shapes Travel Across Asia, captivated international media by offering clear, data-driven proof of how the desire to see artists on stage transcends borders, reshaping urban and tourism ecosystems.
The study tracked fans' journeys from multiple dimensions by integrating fresh survey data from concertgoers across six key Asian markets—South Korea, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and Thailand—with Trip.com Group's global travel big data and market intelligence from the world’s leading ticketing platform, Ticketmaster.
■ Thrills Born on Stage Redefine the Travel Paradigm According to the report, 7 out of 10 Asian concertgoers (70%) cited live music as the most exciting and compelling reason to travel, with 65% having already crossed borders as true "concert travelers" to experience a live show.
Notably, the overwhelming presence of K-pop across Asia was confirmed by the numbers as a decisive engine driving inbound travel to South Korea. A staggering 73% of Thai respondents expressed an intention to visit South Korea to see their favorite artists perform, while approximately 1 in 5 respondents from both Thailand and Hong Kong (around 20%) had already visited South Korea specifically for a concert. Singaporean music fans also ranked South Korea as their top travel destination for concert tours.
South Korean fans are expanding their horizons just as proactively. Fifty-five percent (55%) of South Korean respondents reported traveling to other regions or abroad to attend concerts, with 69% stating that these journeys hold deeper meaning beyond standard sightseeing. The top outbound destinations for Korean fans seeking live shows were Hong Kong/Macau (52%) and Singapore (49%). For them, planning an itinerary begins with securing tickets (52%), followed by affordable flights/transportation (41%), and accommodations near the venue (38%).
This demand has directly fueled the premiumization of entertainment consumption. Across all six surveyed markets, 63% of concertgoers opted for 5-star hotels, and 76% expressed a strong preference for one-stop packages bundling tickets, accommodations, and flights. Rather than returning home immediately after the show, staying for at least three days to immerse oneself in local culture has established itself as the global standard for music tourism.
■ Fruits of a Promise Made in 2025: “From Ticketing to City Nightlife, Connecting a Seamless Musical Journey” Leadership from both companies consistently attributed their success to the continued execution of their strategic partnership (MOU) established in October 2025.
At that time, the two organizations successfully launched priority booking bundles for TWICE’s Hong Kong tour, officially activating an integrated concert travel solution across five key Asian markets: South Korea, Hong Kong/Macau, Singapore, Thailand, and Mainland China. By linking the Ticketmaster and Trip.com platforms, they began providing fans with a one-stop experience featuring exclusive presale access combined with hotels, flights, and curated local tours.
Within just one year, this partnership yielded remarkable market results. Bookings for Trip.com Group's ticket-and-travel bundled packages surged 64% year-over-year in the first half of 2026, with 1 in 3 South Korean music fans (33%) choosing Trip.com as an essential gateway for overseas concert travel.
During the media briefing, Bo Sun, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Trip.com Group, emphasized:
"Music lovers want an immersive experience that extends well beyond the venue. By seamlessly connecting inspiring travel moments with ticketing, accommodation, and transportation, we are bringing unprecedented added value to Asia's tourism industry and culture."
James Dick, Executive Vice President (EVP) of Partnerships and Media at Live Nation Asia, added:
"Concert travel is fundamentally redefining the tourism landscape across Asia. For fans, a single performance serves as the starting point of an extraordinary journey to experience and remember an entire city’s culture."
The Alliance of Two Giants Expanding the Boundaries of the Stage: A Message for the Future of Global Live Music
What stood out most to Rolling Stone Korea at the Singapore briefing was the safeguarding of the fandom experience and the establishment of a sustainable global live ecosystem.
Historically, traveling abroad for concerts meant navigating formidable barriers: cutthroat ticketing battles, scalping risks, and unreliable hotel and flight reservations that fans had to tackle entirely on their own. The synergy between Live Nation's world-class production capabilities and Trip.com’s expansive global infrastructure directly dismantles these structural hurdles. A unified journey combining verified official tickets with premium hospitality provides an environment where fans can fully immerse themselves in the music and their connection with the artist.
Furthermore, this creates a healthy, virtuous cycle where the global music industry and local urban economies thrive together. Cities across Asia are evolving beyond mere tour stops into international fan hubs where fandoms unite, connect, and engage with local culture. Just as 41% of fans cited a sense of belonging to a fan community and 57% viewed sharing the moment on social media as fundamental to the concert experience, concert travel has become a stage for cross-border solidarity and cultural exchange.
The robust infrastructure built by Trip.com and Live Nation is poised to significantly widen the touring footprint for global artists—including K-pop acts—while serving as an innovative catalyst delivering borderless cultural experiences to music fans worldwide. A new era of 'Enter-tour-ment', where the stage, the city, and travel harmonize, has now begun its full-scale expansion across Asia.
