바이럴 히트를 기록한 정규 앨범 [Blue Valentine] 발매 이후 채 1년도 지나지 않아, 엔믹스(NMIXX)가 또 한 번 새로운 음악으로 돌아왔다. 이들은 월드투어 <EPISODE 1: ZERO FRONTIER>의 유럽, 라틴 아메리카, 미국 공연을 성공적으로 마친 직후인 지난 5월 11일, 다이내믹한 다섯 번째 미니앨범 [Heavy Serenade]를 공개했다. 컴백을 불과 며칠 앞두고 <롤링스톤 코리아>는 멤버들과 만나 새 EP에 관한 이야기와 지금까지 투어를 돌며 가장 기억에 남았던 순간들에 대해 이야기를 나눴다.

1. [RSK] 안녕하세요, 엔믹스! 오늘 인터뷰를 정말 기대하고 있었어요. 먼저 독자분들을 위해 자기소개와 함께 멤버별 재미있는 TMI 하나씩 들려주세요.

해원: 안녕하세요, 엔믹스의 리더 해원입니다. 제 TMI는 지금 쓰고 있는 안경에 렌즈가 없다는 거예요!

릴리: 저는 엔믹스의 맏언니 릴리입니다. 제 TMI는… 보여드리진 않을 건데요, 겨드랑이에 점이 있어요!

규진: 엔믹스의 규진입니다. 어제 염색했어요!

배이: 안녕하세요, 배이입니다! 들으시면 아시겠지만, 멤버들 중에서 목소리가 가장 높은 편이에요.(웃음)

설윤: 안녕하세요, 설윤입니다. 저는 게임을 정말 좋아해서 꿈에서도 게임 속에 들어가 있을 정도예요!

릴리: 무슨 게임인지 물어봐도 돼?

설윤: 마인크래프트요!

2. [RSK] 다섯 번째 EP [Heavy Serenade] 발매를 축하합니다! 이번 앨범은 엔믹스의 디스코그래피 안에서 어떤 의미를 가지며, 이전 앨범인 [Blue Valentine]의 서사를 어떻게 이어가고 있나요?

해원: 이번 앨범에서 엔믹스는 마침내 ‘믹스토피아(MIXTOPIA)’를 찾아가게 돼요. [Blue Valentine]이 사랑과 그로 인해 따라오는 아픔에 관한 이야기였다면, [Heavy Serenade]는 진정한 사랑과 순수한 감정을 통해 믹스토피아를 함께 만들어가는 과정을 담고 있는 앨범이에요.

3. [RSK] 타이틀곡 <Heavy Serenade>는 사운드와 가사를 통해 사랑이 지닌 벅차오르는 감정을 인상적으로 담아낸 곡인데요. 이러한 감정들을 라이브 퍼포먼스에서는 어떤 방식으로 전달하고 싶었나요?

릴리: 이번 안무는 가사를 정말 직관적으로 표현하고 있어요! 예를 들어 “커진 심장 소릴 들어봐”라는 가사가 나올 때는 실제로 심장을 가리키는 동작을 하고요. 또 “가사가 된 꽃잎들을 봐”라는 부분에서는 손짓으로 꽃잎이 흩날리는 모습을 표현하면서, 진짜 그 꽃잎이 있는 것처럼 손을 바라보기도 해요!

4. [RSK] 선공개곡 <Crescendo>는 후렴구의 하모니를 통해 멤버들의 개성 있는 보컬이 특히 돋보이는 얼터너티브 팝 곡입니다. 이번 엔믹스 시대의 첫 시작으로 이 곡을 선택하게 된 이유가 궁금해요.

릴리: 처음 데모를 들었을 때부터 <Crescendo>는 멤버들이 정말 좋아했던 곡 중 하나였어요. 회사 팀분들도 이 곡을 굉장히 좋아하셨고요! 최종적으로는 <Heavy Serenade>를 타이틀곡으로 결정하게 됐지만, <Crescendo>가 가진 매력을 그냥 지나치기엔 너무 아깝다고 생각했어요. 그래서 안무도 새로 만들고 뮤직비디오까지 촬영하게 됐죠. 무엇보다 가사가 이번 앨범 전체를 정말 잘 설명해주는 곡이라고 생각해요. 굉장히 로맨틱하거든요.

5. [RSK] 정식 발매 전이었음에도 <Superior>를 인스파이어 아레나에서 열린 <LCK 팀 로드쇼: 2026 T1 홈그라운드> 무대에서 먼저 선보였잖아요. 그런 특별한 자리에서 신곡을 처음 공개한 소감은 어땠나요?

해원: 케이팝 팬분들만 있는 자리가 아니라 다양한 관객분들 앞에서 무대를 보여드릴 수 있어서 정말 좋은 기회였어요. 이번 컬래버레이션 무대를 위해 가장 멋진 곡을 고르고 싶었고, T1 팬분들도 무대를 재미있게 즐겨주셨으면 좋겠다고 생각했어요!

6. [RSK] 곧 말레이시아에서 열리는 <2026 AsiaTop Music Festival> 무대에 오른 뒤, 6월부터는 <EPISODE 1: ZERO FRONTIER> 월드투어 아시아 일정도 시작하게 됩니다. 새 앨범이 추가되면서 이번 투어 준비에도 변화가 생겼을 것 같은데요.

릴리: 너무 많은 스포일러는 하고 싶지 않지만요. 새 앨범이 나온 만큼 이번 세트리스트에도 앨범의 테마들을 여러 방식으로 녹여낼 예정이에요. 팬분들도 그 부분을 기대해주시면 좋을 것 같아요!

 7. [RSK] 올해 초에는 유럽, 라틴 아메리카, 미국 투어까지 성공적으로 마쳤는데요. 각 멤버들이 투어를 돌며 여러 나라를 함께 여행하는 과정에서 가장 좋았던 점은 무엇이었나요?
 

규진: 멤버들과 함께 새로운 장소들을 방문하는 게 저한테는 정말 특별해요. 나라별로 다양한 문화적 랜드마크를 보는 것도 재미있고요. 그리고 역시 음식도 빼놓을 수 없죠!

배이: 모든 순간이 다 좋았지만, 지금까지 가장 기억에 남는 곳은 암스테르담이에요. 제가 제일 좋아하는 캐릭터인 미피가 네덜란드에서 탄생했잖아요. 그래서 거리 곳곳에서 미피 굿즈를 많이 볼 수 있어서 정말 행복했어요!

설윤: 멤버들이랑 오래 기억에 남을 추억들을 만들 수 있어서 좋았어요. 그리고 여러 도시를 돌아다니다가 엔써(NSWER)분들을 마주치는 순간들도 정말 즐거워요!

해원: 맞아요. 저도 매일 정해진 일정 속에서 엔써분들을 만날 수 있다는 게 정말 좋아요!

릴리: 제가 투어에서 가장 좋아하는 부분 중 하나는 공연을 계속하다 보면 점점 또 다른 집처럼 편안하게 느껴진다는 거예요. 무대 위에서도 훨씬 자유롭고 편하게 놀 수 있었고, 제가 하는 조금 이상한 행동들도 다들 너무 자연스럽게 받아들여줬어요. 이렇게 멤버들과 팀 모두가 함께 즐겁게 무대를 만들 수 있다는 게 정말 감사해요.

8. [RSK] 지난 1년 동안 그룹으로서 정말 많은 성과를 이뤄왔는데요. 이번 컴백을 통해 엔믹스가 새롭게 이루고 싶은 목표가 있다면 무엇인가요?

규진: 이번 앨범에 수록된 모든 곡이 정말 특별한 만큼, 각각의 곡들이 많은 분들의 마음에 닿았으면 좋겠어요. 그리고 그와 함께 더 많은 차트 성적이나 기록들도 자연스럽게 따라오면 정말 좋을 것 같아요!

9. [RSK] 마지막으로 <롤링스톤 코리아> 독자분들께 전하고 싶은 말이 있다면 부탁합니다.

해원: 이렇게 <롤링스톤 코리아>와 함께 새 EP에 대해 이야기할 수 있어서 정말 행복했어요! 이번 앨범에는 넘치는 사랑과 감정을 가득 담아냈습니다. 그리고 지금까지 저희 음악을 들어주시고 응원해주신 모든 엔써분들께도 진심으로 감사드려요!

NMIXX Welcome You To MIXTOPIA With New Album Heavy Serenade

Less than a year since the release of their viral “Blue Valentine” full-length album, NMIXX are back with even more music to share with the world! Soon after wrapping up the European, Latin America, and U.S. legs of the <EPISODE 1: ZERO FRONTIER> World Tour, the group dropped their dynamic fifth mini album Heavy Serenade on May 11. Only a few days before the comeback, Rolling Stone Korea got to chat with the members about the new EP and some of their favorite memories on the road so far.

[RSK] Hello NMIXX, we have been looking forward to speaking with you today! Let’s begin with a self-introduction and one fun fact from the members.

HAEWON: Hi! I'm the leader of NMIXX, Haewon. My fun fact is that the glasses I’m wearing right now don’t have lenses! 

LILY: I am the oldest member, Lily. And my fun fact is… well, I won't show you, but I have a spot on my armpit! 

KYUJIN: This is Kyujin! Yesterday, I dyed my hair!

BAE: I’m Bae! And I have the ‘highest’ voice of all the members, as you can tell! 

The entire group laughs.

SULLYOON: Hello, this is Sullyoon! I’m really into games, to the point where I even dream about being inside of them!

LILY: Can I ask what game it was?

SULLYOON: Minecraft!

[RSK] Congratulations on the release of your fifth EP, Heavy Serenade! How does this body of work fit into your discography and continue the narrative from your previous album “Blue Valentine?”

HAEWON: In this album, NMIXX finally finds ‘MIXTOPIA.’ While Blue Valentine was about love and the pain that comes with it, Heavy Serenade this one is about real love and how we grow our MIXTOPIA with pure emotion.

[RSK] Title track “Heavy Serenade” really embodies the overflowing emotions of love both sonically and through its lyrics. In what ways do you hope to convey these feelings through your live performances? 

LILY: The choreo really embodies the lyrics quite literally this time! When we're talking about, “You can hear my heart,” we point to our hearts. And then it's like, “Look at the floating petals falling onto the ground,” and we actually express the petals through dance, and we're actually looking at our hands like they’re there!

[RSK] The pre-release track “Crescendo” is an alternative pop song that especially highlights the members’ unique vocal qualities through harmonies in its chorus. How did the group decide on this as the first look into this new era of NMIXX? 

LILY: When we listened to the demos for the first time, Crescendo was one of our favorites. I know our team really liked that song, too! And while we ultimately decided on “Heavy Serenade” as the title track, we really didn't want the potential of “Crescendo” to be wasted! So we ended up making choreography for it and filming a music video. Plus, the lyrics describe the album as a whole very well because they're very romantic.

[RSK] Though it hasn’t officially been released yet at the time of writing, you already performed the track “Superior” during the T1 Home Ground spring festivities at Inspire Arena. What was it like to debut a new song at such an exciting event?

HAEWON: It was a great opportunity to be able to perform for a crowd where there weren’t exclusively K-Pop listeners in the audience. We picked out the coolest song we could for this stage collaboration, and we hope that the T1 fans also really loved it! 

[RSK] You will soon be making your way to Malaysia for the 2026 Asia Top Music Festival before kicking off the Asian leg of the <EPISODE 1: ZERO FRONTIER> World Tour in June. How has the addition of a new album to your discography affected preparations this time around?

LILY:  Well I don’t want to give too much of a spoiler! But because of the new release, I feel like we're absolutely going to incorporate some of the themes throughout the new set list. So fans can definitely look forward to that! 

[RSK] Earlier this year, you completed the Europe, Latin America, and U.S. legs of the tour. What has been each member’s favorite thing about being on the road and travelling together to different countries?

KYUJIN: Visiting brand new places with the members is very special to me. It’s also cool to see all kinds of cultural landmarks in each different country. And the food, of course! 

BAE: Everything has been great, but my favorite place so far would have to be Amsterdam. My favorite character, Miffy, was created in the Netherlands, so I was happy to see a lot of Miffy items everywhere!

SULLYOON: I loved being able to make lasting memories with the members. Plus, being able to see NSWERs while walking around in different cities is something I really enjoy!

HAEWON: Yes, I like being able to see NSWERs every day on a regular schedule!

LILY: One of my favorite parts about being on tour is that it almost starts to feel like a second home because of the amount of times we get to perform. I was even able to feel really comfortable and play around on stage, and all of my ‘weird’ antics were really embraced openly. I’m so grateful that I have a team and members where we can have a lot of fun. 

[RSK] While you have already accomplished so much as a group in the past year, what else does NMIXX hope to achieve through this comeback?

KYUJIN: All of the tracks in the album are special, so I hope they are each able to touch the audience. And hopefully, more chart placements and records will come with that as well! 

[RSK] Finally, is there anything else you would like to share with Rolling Stone Korea readers?

HAEWON: I’m so happy that we got to be here with Rolling Stone Korea to talk about our new EP! We filled this album with overflowing love and emotions. And thank you to all of our NSWERs for listening to and supporting us until now!
